The Journal Jogger was designed for children who are seeking independence and also benefit from having sentence starters and ideas for journal writing. The assembled Journal Jogger is compact, making included children feel more comfortable with its use. The system includes sight word lists from PrePrimer to third grade, verbs, nouns, descriptors, sentence starters, calendar helpers, hundred board, alphabet prompts with phonemic picture prompts.

 On day one of kindergarten, my son was required to sit still and write in his journal for 30 minutes. Luckily, he could sit in his chair that long. But, he did nothing constructive--for two months, he scribbled. The first day I introduced the journal jogger, and coupled visual cues with verbal instructions, my son drew a beautiful family portrait and wrote a wonderful sentence. We continued to use the Journal Jogger to structure writing time through first grade with great results!
