ATIA Orlando 2010: "Including Kids with Autism Using Everyday Technology"

Today's informed educator recognizes the importance of inclusion, and including children with autism is no easy task. Individuals with autism, across the spectrum, struggle with varying degrees of communication, social, and behavior or sensory impairments. How can teachers, parents, or caregivers extend access to individuals with such a pervasive disorder? Come experience this interactive session from a mom of two children with autism, who are now fully included in school and in the community. Practical and affordable instructional technology solutions are showcased to promote appropriate behaviors, improve communications, and improve social skills. A variety of ideas appropriate for Pre-K through elementary grades will be presented. Attendees will be offered a make-and-take to promote literacy or social skills.
