When the kids were little, they'd get overloaded pretty easily so we'd have two or three smaller birthday parties rather than one large bash (after learning the hard way). To add variety, I'd make a big party cookie and, trust me, it really brightened up the room. This picture is of a big cookie from my daughter's 3rd birthday party.
1) Line bottom and sides of a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment. Meanwhile, trace and cut design onto wax paper, maximizing the size to 9x13-inches. 4) Using large, simple shapes is key, otherwise you'll have a crumbly mess when you cut out the pattern. 5) Once cookie is cool, carefully transfer it to a large cutting board and remove the parchment. Place wax paper pattern on cookie top and using a very sharp knife, cut out design. Reserve and freeze cookie scraps for a rainy day snack. 6) Pipe Buttery Frosting according to your design. I use a Number 27 Closed Star decorating tip and pipe the outline only. The cookie is already plenty sweet, so I use frosting sparingly. Recipe © 2010 Inga Smith. All Rights Reserved. |
